About Brinker

My name is Brinker Harding – I am a fourth-generation Omahan, husband to Rebecca, dad to Elizabeth and Grace, business leader, Omaha City Councilman, and candidate for the United States Congress in Nebraska’s 2nd District.

Prior to serving on the Omaha City Council, I was a business leader and public servant. From 1995 – 2000, I served as Chief of Staff and Director of Economic Development to Mayor Hal Daub. From City Hall, we formed public-private partnerships that invested over $2 billion dollars in the restoration of the Riverfront parks, driving business and job growth in Omaha’s urban core. We built the CHI Convention Center that is now home to the Creighton Bluejays men’s basketball team and the annual Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder Meeting, and we constructed the Dodge Expressway that spurred economic development and improved transportation across Omaha.

On the Omaha City Council since 2017, I have continued my work to grow Omaha from the Missouri River to the Elkhorn River. Again harnessing private partnerships for public projects, we are growing Omaha from the Gene Leahy Mall at the Riverfront, to a world-class public library on 72nd and Dodge, to the Heartwood Preserve development on 144th and Dodge, to the Avenue One Development on 192nd and Dodge, to revitalizing Olde Towne Elkhorn. My hands have helped shape Omaha into the #1 City to Move to in America (Forbes) and the hottest housing market in the United States (US News & World Report).

Unlike in Washington, we have balanced the City of Omaha’s budget every single year. On the City Council, I have voted to lower Omaha’s property tax levy three times.

And when most major cities are suffering from a 40% increase in violent crime, we have driven Omaha’s violent crime rate to historic 40-year lows. We didn’t defund our police, we gave them the record pay raise they deserve.

In Omaha, we’ve grown our economy, balanced our budget, and kept our residents and communities safe. Now, I am running for Congress because I believe we need to make America more like its Heartland. We need proven leaders we can count on to restore, grow, secure, and renew America–to make our next 250 years a new Golden Age.

We have so much momentum and, together, we have so much more to accomplish for Nebraska and America. I hope you’ll join me.
